Learners complete 6-hours worth of content online prior to the In-Person event. Then we complete the final 9-hours of the course together with live lecture labs and patient application experiences.

Course Objectives

The Gait Rehabilitation course provides clinicians with an advanced, in-depth framework to effectively analyze and treat gait dysfunction. The course reviews gait theory and focus on practical, clinically appropriate approaches for observational and instrumented gait analysis. Clinicians advance their knowledge in evidence-based functional testing strategies and pathological gait mechanisms and diagnoses. The course provides a hands-on, patient-centered approach for rehabilitation and plan of care development for clients with amputation, impaired motor control, and other gait dysfunctions through video and real patient interaction. This course follows a progression of Mission Gait’s ideal practice principles and reinforces them through the weekend course with significant hands-on lab experience providing the clinician with skills to be used immediately upon their return to the clinical setting.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding kinetics and kinematics of the gait cycle
  • Define and detail the Rancho phases and critical events of gait observational analysis
  • Demonstrate understanding of instrumented gait analysis, insights achieved by instrumented analysis, and advantages/disadvantages to instrumented analysis
  • Detail reliable gait assessment tests and measures
  • Describe Perry’s structure for pathological gait dysfunctions.
  • Utilize clinical decision-making skills and reasoning to determine gait dysfunctions, hypothesize underlying causes, assess prognostics, and formulate treatment plans
  • Identify goals of gait rehabilitation
  • Prioritize and demonstrate proficiency in pre-ambulation rehabilitation techniques
  • Demonstrate proficiency in gait training rehabilitation techniques
  • Apply rehabilitation techniques to patient models through video analysis and local patient population
  • Recognize the value of Mission Gait’s ideal practice

What makes this course unique?

This course not only performs an in-depth review of normal gait mechanics and gait analysis but demonstrates a collaborative approach to treatment and care for patients with gait impairment whether they are post-surgical, have a neurologic diagnosis or an amputation, or are athletes looking to improve their level of performance. 

Details of the registration process:

After registering & purchasing the Mission Gait Core Concepts & Treatment Strategies Hybrid Course, you will have immediate access to the first segments of the course. The online sections can be completed at your own pace, and are estimated to take 6 hours. These sections must be completed prior to the in-person event. A course book will be provided at the in-person event. 

CEU Approval for Physical Therapists and PTAs:

Mission Gait Foundation will obtain approval for 15 CEUs from the state hosting the course, as well as surrounding states as needed.

ABCOP CEU Approval:
